How to Enable Notifications in LenoChat
Notifications help you respond to customer chats on time. If notifications are not set up correctly, you may miss new chat requests or messages. This guide explains how LenoChat notifications work, how to enable them in your browser, and how to customise web, sound and mobile notifications for your account.
1. Notification types in LenoChat
Before diving into how to enable notifications, let’s first understand the types of notifications available in LenoChat.
LenoChat sends notifications for two specific situations:
New message in chats assigned to me
• You’ll receive a notification when a new message arrives in a chat already assigned to you
• This helps you stay on top of conversations you’re currently handling
New incoming chat request
• You’ll receive a notification when a new chat request arrives in the queue and is waiting to be picked up
• These chats are not yet assigned to any agent
You will not receive notifications for chats assigned to other agents.
2. Web Notifications
Web notifications are pop-up alerts that appear on your computer screen when a customer sends you a message. They work even when you are not looking at the LenoChat dashboard, so you never miss a chat.
How to Set Up Web Notifications
a. Enable Web Notifications in Your Browser
When you log in to the LenoChat web app, you will see a prompt asking for permission to send notifications. Click Allow to receive web notifications.
These are managed inside LenoChat.
• They control which notifications you receive
• You can turn sound notifications and web notifications on or off separately
• These settings apply only to your account
This setting decides which notifications reach you.
b. Allow Notifications in Google Chrome (or Your Browser)
1. Open my.lenochat.com in Google Chrome (or your preferred browser).
2. Click the sliders icon to the left of the website address in the browser address bar.
3. In the popup that appears, find Notifications.
4. Make sure the toggle is turned On (Allowed).
5. If notifications were previously blocked, click Reset permission , then refresh the page. When the browser asks again, click Allow.
After changing these settings, refresh the LenoChat dashboard to apply them. Once notifications are enabled here, Chrome or your browser can send LenoChat web notifications to your computer.
3. Sound Notifications
Sound notifications play an alert sound when a customer sends a new message to a chat that is assigned to you or waiting in the queue. This helps you notice incoming messages even when you are not looking at the screen. If you are already viewing the active chat and messages appear in real time, sound notifications will not play.
To get sound notifications working, you need to enable them in two places:
3.1. Turn On Sound Notifications in LenoChat
• Click your profile avatar at the bottom-left corner of the LenoChat dashboard.
• Click Profile Settings.
• Find the Notifications section.
• Make sure Sound Notifications is turned On.
3.2. Enable Sound in Your Browser
Your browser also needs permission to play sound. Even if sound notifications are turned on inside LenoChat, you will not hear them if sound is blocked in your browser.
• Open my.lenochat.com in Google Chrome (or your preferred browser).
• Click the sliders icon to the left of the website address in the browser address bar.
• In the popup, find Sound.
• Make sure it is set to On or Automatic (the default setting).
Important: Both Sound Notifications in LenoChat and Sound in your browser must be enabled. If either one is off, you will not hear alert sounds.
4. Mobile Phone Push Notifications
Mobile push notifications alert you when a customer sends a new message to a chat that is assigned to you or waiting in the queue. This helps you stay updated even when you are away from your computer.
Push notifications are not shown if you are actively viewing the chat and messages are already displayed in real time.
Make sure push notifications are enabled
iOS (iPhone)
• Open Settings → Notifications → LenoChat
• Turn on Allow Notifications
• Enable Lock Screen, Notification Centre, and Banners
• Make sure Sounds are enabled
• Check that Focus / Do Not Disturb is turned off or allows notifications from LenoChat
Android

• Turn on Allow notifications
• Enable sound and banner notifications
• Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off or allows notifications from LenoChat
• Once enabled, you will receive push notifications on your phone whenever a new customer message arrives.

6. Troubleshooting: Notifications Not Working?
If you are not receiving notifications, check each of the following:
1. LenoChat notification settings — Are web notifications turned on in your Profile Settings?
2. Browser permissions — Are notifications and sound allowed for my.lenochat.com in your browser?
3. Operating system settings — Are notifications enabled for your browser (Chrome) in your system settings?
4. Focus / Do Not Disturb — Is Focus mode or Do Not Disturb turned off on your computer?
5. Chat assignment — Is the chat assigned to you, or is it a new incoming request in the queue?
6. Browser open — Is your browser open and running? Web notifications require the browser to be open.
If you previously blocked notifications and they are still not working, try this: go to your browser's site settings for my.lenochat.com, click Reset permissions, refresh the page, and click Allow when prompted.
7. Frequently Asked Questions
